Validity of Saying “Allah Created Himself” in Islam
Introduction
One of the fundamental beliefs in Islam is that Allah is the Creator of everything that exists, while He Himself is eternal and uncreated. Sometimes people ask philosophical questions such as, "Did Allah create Himself?" or claim that "Allah created Himself." According to the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and the consensus of Muslim scholars, this statement is false and contradicts the basic principles of Islamic belief.

Allah Is the Eternal Creator
Allah describes Himself in the Qur'an as the Creator of all things:
"Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs."

Everything in the universe has been created by Allah. However, Allah Himself is not part of His creation. He existed before the heavens, the earth, time, and every created being.

"Allah existed and there was nothing besides Him."

Why the Statement Is Illogical

For something to create itself, it would have to:

If Allah already existed, He would not need to create Himself.
If He did not exist, then a non-existent being could not perform the act of creation.
Therefore, saying "Allah created Himself" is both logically impossible and Islamically incorrect.
Allah Is the First and the Last
Allah says:
"He is the First and the Last, the Most High and the Most Near. And He is, of all things, Knowing."
(Qur'an 57:3)
Being "The First" (Al-Awwal) means there was nothing before Allah. He has no beginning and no creator.

"He neither begets nor is born, and there is none comparable to Him."

Everything Created Has a Creator

Sometimes Shaytan causes people to ask endless questions such as:
Who created Allah?
Where did Allah come from?
Did Allah create Himself?
The Prophet ﷺ warned about these whispers:
"People will continue asking questions until it is said, 'Allah created the creation, but who created Allah?' Whoever experiences this should say, 'I believe in Allah,' and stop such thoughts."
(Sahih Muslim)
These questions arise from applying the rules of creation to the Creator, which is a false comparison.
What Do Muslim Scholars Say?
The scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah unanimously agree that:
Allah is uncreated.
Allah has no beginning.
Allah has no creator.
Saying that Allah created Himself is disbelief because it denies His eternal nature.
Imam At-Tahawi stated in his famous creed:
"He is eternal without beginning and everlasting without end."
This has been the belief of Muslims throughout history.
