What are the six articles of faith                                                 (Iman)?

Introduction

Faith (Iman) is the foundation of a Muslim’s belief system. It shapes not only how a person understands the world but also how they live their daily life. In Islam, Iman is not just about belief in the heart—it is deeply connected to actions, intentions, and character.

The core of Islamic belief is built upon six essential pillars known as the Articles of Faith. These beliefs define a Muslim’s relationship with Allah, the unseen world, and the purpose of life. Understanding them helps strengthen faith, build trust in divine wisdom, and guide one toward a meaningful and righteous life.

The Six Articles of Faith (Iman)

1. Belief in Allah (Tawheed)

The first and most important article is belief in the Oneness of Allah. Muslims believe that Allah is the one and only God—Creator, Sustainer, and Controller of everything in existence. He has no partners, no equals, and nothing is like Him.

This belief forms the core of Islam and influences every aspect of a Muslim’s life, encouraging sincerity, humility, and complete reliance on Allah.

2. Belief in Angels (Mala'ika)

Muslims believe in angels, who are created from light and are completely obedient to Allah. They carry out various duties, such as delivering revelations, recording human deeds, and managing aspects of the universe.

Angels remind believers that they are never alone and that every action is being observed and recorded.

3. Belief in the Revealed Books (Kutub)

Allah sent divine books as guidance for humanity through His prophets. Muslims believe in all the original scriptures, including the Torah, Psalms, Gospel, and the Qur’an.

The Qur’an is considered the final and complete revelation, preserved in its original form, serving as a guide for all aspects of life.

4. Belief in the Prophets (Anbiya)

Allah sent prophets to guide humanity and teach them how to live according to His will. Muslims believe in all prophets, from Adam to the final prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon them all).

Each prophet delivered the same core message: to worship one God and live a righteous life.

5. Belief in the Day of Judgment (Akhirah)

Muslims believe that this life is temporary and that every individual will be resurrected and held accountable for their actions on the Day of Judgment.

This belief encourages responsibility, justice, and mindfulness, as every action—big or small—will be rewarded or punished.

6. Belief in Divine Decree (Qadr)

This is the belief that everything happens according to Allah’s knowledge and will. While humans have free will to make choices, Allah is fully aware of all that will happen.

Belief in Qadr brings comfort during difficult times and teaches patience, trust, and acceptance of life’s challenges.

Conclusion

The six Articles of Faith are more than just beliefs—they are a complete framework for understanding life, purpose, and the unseen world. They provide clarity in times of confusion, strength during hardship, and direction in everyday decisions.

When a Muslim truly understands and lives by these principles, their faith becomes a source of peace, resilience, and hope. Iman is not static; it grows with knowledge, reflection, and sincere practice.

By strengthening these core beliefs, one can build a deeper connection with Allah and lead a life filled with purpose, gratitude, and spiritual fulfillment.
